The Times-News – Time for Dad: Paternity Leave Becomes New Trend

Trends

New fathers Aaron King and Jeff Jankowski, who both work at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, talk about their experience with paternity leave as part of a story in Burlington’s The Times-News last week.

The article focuses on a growing state and national trend to expand paid parental leave for new parents, especially fathers. The article says that while the number of men taking paternity leave has increased from 1994 to 2015  – from about 6,000 men per month to 22,000 per month – it’s still a relatively small percentage of fathers considering around 300,000 babies are born each month.
