The American workforce is still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, and no one has felt the brunt of job loss the way women have.
The University of Oregon’s RAPID-EC project, launched in April 2020 in response to the pandemic, has been collecting essential information from households and families with young children across the country to provide actionable data to key stakeholders and inform immediate and long-term policy decisions. The survey includes questions about family supports and utilization of resources, caregiver mental health and well-being, and child development, including parents’ concerns about their children’s development.
RAPID-EC recently released data showing the effects of pandemic-related job loss on mothers with small children. Key takeaways include:
