We are proud to welcome 32 new employers to our Family Forward NC® Certification during the first half of 2025. These employers represent more than 21,594 employees in North Carolina who have family friendly benefits. The majority of certified employers hailed from the Triad, contributing to Greensboro being recognized as the first Family Forward NC® Certified Community in our state.
This cohort represents a diverse group of employers – nonprofits, local government, manufacturing, health care, and the service sector. They care for your health, teach your kids, serve you lunch, help your family be ready for kindergarten, keep bugs off you, help care for your elders, make your computer and software, and even create systems to keep public spaces clean and safe for you.
There was a rise in small business certifications with 11 small businesses employing under 50. Women and People of Color owned businesses came in at 15. Certified employers in this cohort call ten counties home, all in the Piedmont – Alamance, Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Guilford, Forsyth, Orange, Moore, Nash and Wake counties.
Among the benefits offered in this cohort that stand out: paid parental leave for part-time employees; paid family medical leave; reproductive health support; paid bereavement and child care vouchers.
